Christoph Eschenbach is internationally acclaimed both as a conductor and pianist. Combining performance tradition, emotional intensity, and personal charisma, his performances are recognized for their interpretive depth. Eschenbach has conducted many leading orchestras and garnered the highest musical honours. Since September 2019, he serves as Musical Director of the Konzerthausorchester Berlin.

Born in war-torn Europe in 1940, a succession of personal tragedies affected his early childhood years, truly making music his saviour. Today, at 83, his keen artistic curiosity continues undiminished.

Eschenbach is well known as a tireless supporter of young talent – this is his greatest passion, and he values his mentorship above his own distinguished career. To date, he has discovered and supported the pianist Lang Lang, the violinist Julia Fischer and the cellists Leonard Elschenbroich and Daniel Müller-Schott. As Artistic Advisor and lecturer at Kronberg Academy, he accompanies young violinists, cellists and violists as they prepare for careers as world-class soloists.
