
About Evans Mirageas
Evans Mirageas is in his 21st season as The Harry T. Wilks Artistic Director of Cincinnati Opera. Widely regarded as one of the most gifted and respected artistic leaders in the classical music world today, Mirageas brings to Cincinnati Opera over 40 years of experience in opera, symphonic, and chamber music, along with a long history of successful collaborations with many of the world’s leading singers, conductors, and composers.
Mirageas’s diverse career in classical music has included radio production with Chicago’s nationally renowned WFMT station, serving as Artistic Administrator to Seiji Ozawa at the Boston Symphony, Senior Vice President of Artists and Repertoire for the Decca Record Company, and for fifteen years, Vice President of Artistic Planning for The Atlanta Symphony. His board affiliations include the William Matheus Sullivan Foundation for singers, where he serves as president. Additionally, Mirageas is an award-winning record producer, lecturer, interviewer, presenter, and awards panelist. Since 1999, he has worked as an independent artistic advisor to conductors, instrumentalists, singers, symphony orchestras, opera companies, and other performing arts organizations across the United States and Europe.
Mirageas currently makes his home in Cincinnati, Ohio with his husband Thomas Dreeze.
