Jacinthe Forand is a graduate of the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, the Manhattan School of Music in New York, and Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. Since 2001, she has served as principal flute with the Orchestre symphonique de Québec, performing as a soloist and principal flute on over a dozen of the orchestra’s recordings.
An engaged and versatile musician, Jacinthe Forand has also performed at the Tanglewood Music Center Festival, with the Orquestra Sinfónica de Galicia in Spain, Manhattan Virtuosi in New York, the New World Symphony in Miami, the Orchestre symphonique de Laval, the Orchestre Métropolitain, the National Arts Centre Orchestra in Ottawa, Les Violons du Roy, the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, Domaine Forget, Musique de chambre de Sainte-Pétronille, and the Club musical de Québec.
A sought-after and respected educator, she has been a flute professor at the Conservatoire de musique de Québec since 2006, at the Domaine Forget Academy since 2008, and with the National Youth Orchestra of Canada. She also offers breathing workshops for wind instrumentalists.
She has received several grants, including from the Canada Council for the Arts.
