
About Rosemary Joshua
Rosemary Joshua is an internationally acclaimed Welsh soprano whose distinguished career brought her to the world’s leading opera houses and concert halls. Renowned for her radiant interpretations of Handel’s heroines and a repertoire spanning baroque to 20th-century works, she performed at the Metropolitan Opera, La Scala, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Glyndebourne Festival, Bayerische Staatsoper, Dutch National Opera, English National Opera, and Cologne Opera. Her roles included Adèle (Die Fledermaus), Cleopatra (Giulio Cesare), Oscar (Un Ballo in Maschera), the Vixen (The Cunning Little Vixen), Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro), and Anne Trulove (The Rake’s Progress).
On the concert platform, Joshua appeared at the BBC Proms, Carnegie Hall, the Concertgebouw, Musikverein, Mozarteum, Berlin Philharmonie, Philharmonie de Paris, and Walt Disney Hall, collaborating with such renowned conductors as Sir Simon Rattle, Sir Antonio Pappano, Sir Charles Mackerras, Sir Colin Davis, Gustavo Dudamel, William Christie, René Jacobs, and Marc Minkowski.
Her many recordings include Handel’s Partenope, Semele, Saul, Belshazzar and Serse; Purcell’s Harmonia Sacra and Dido and Aeneas; Strauss’s Der Rosenkavalier; and Mahler’s Symphony No. 4.
Since 2018, Rosemary Joshua has been Artistic Director of the Dutch National Opera Studio, where she devotes her artistry and experience to mentoring the next generation of international opera talent.
