Born in Toronto, 21-year-old flutist Arin Sarkissian has performed with the National Youth Orchestra of Canada, the National Symphony Orchestra Summer Music Institute in Washington, D.C., and Carnegie Hall’s National Youth Orchestra. In recent months, Arin won Third Prize at the National Flute Association’s Young Artist Competition and was a 2020 Fellow at the Music Academy of the West’s summer festival. He was awarded first prizes in the 2020 Young Texas Artists Music Competition (W.B.P.H.G. Category) and in the 2019 Mika Hasler Competition. Arin is currently completing his Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music, under the tutelage of Leone Buyse. His previous mentors include Christina Yoo and Lilit Hovhannisyan.
