Toronto-born flutist Katharine Hao began studying flute at the age of eleven. She has performed as a soloist with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra, and the Finnish Navy Band. She has also played with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Tapiola Sinfonietta, Suomalainen Kamariorkesteri and the Aichi Chamber Orchestra, among other ensembles. She has taken part in masterclasses around the world with internationally renowned flutists including Emmanuel Pahud, Felix Renggli, Denis Bouriakov, Sophie Cherrier, Emily Beynon, Philippe Bernold, and Jeanne Baxtresser. Katharine is currently completing her Master’s at the Sibelius Academy in Finland under Yuki Koyama, Principal Flute of the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra.
