Sara Schabas is a Toronto/Tkaronto-born soprano currently living in Geneva, Switzerland. A regional finalist of the 2019 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, she is also a recent recipient of the IRCPA’s Career Blueprint Award and the Hnatyshyn Foundation Award for Vocal Performance, as well as an award from the Vancouver Opera Foundation. Recent performances include the title role in the Vancouver Opera/Pacific Opera Victoria’s touring performances of The Flight of the Hummingbird, her Dora-nominated portrayal of Anne Frank in Cecilia Livingston’s Singing Only Softly, Zerlina in Don Giovanni and a filmed recital at the Zürich Opera House, the latter two with Highlands Opera Studio. Sara Schabas looks forward to the digital release of her performance in Pacific Opera Victoria’s The Garden of Alice, her debut with Concentus Musicus Wien in Dido and Aeneas, a Digital Emerging Artist Fellowship with Manitoba Opera, and performances with Théâtre Lyrichorégra 20 as a laureate of its program Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques.
