Originally from Ottawa, trumpeter Charles Watson graduated from the University of Toronto, earning his Bachelor of Music Performance in June 2020. While he studied primarily under Barton Woomert, he also took lessons with Anita McAlister, Karen Donnelly, James Spragg, among others. In the final year of his degree, he was selected on a trial basis for the position of Second Trumpet with the Canadian Opera Company and performed with that ensemble in early 2020. Mr. Watson has also performed with the National Arts Centre Orchestra (including with its Brass Quintet), the Hannaford Street Silver Band (including as a soloist) and others. He toured Canada and Spain as a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Canada in 2019 and 2020.
